Is China Destined to Be Number One?

I 'm afraid so. You know it's simple demographics. If all that China has to do is to achieve per capita income that is only 25 percent that of United States than china's GNP will become larger. And you know, if you look at the past two thousand years of world history from the year one to the year 1820... for 18 hundred out of the last two thousand years, the two world largest economies where always China and India. So it's only that in the last 200 years that Europe took off and North America took off, but if you view the past two hundred years in consideration with the past two thousand years, the past two hundred years have been a major historical aberration. So all aberrations comes to a natural end, and you go back to the historical norm, and therefore is perfectly normal to have China as a number one economy in the world, and there's nothing you can do, to stop it from happening.

Kishore Mahbubani

Kishore Mahbubani (born 24 October 1948, Singapore) is a notable academic and former Singaporean diplomat. He is currently Professor in the Practice of Public Policy and Dean of the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy at the National University of Singapore. From 1971 to 2004 he served in the Singaporean Foreign Services, becoming Singapore's Permanent Representative to the United Nations. In that role he served as President of the United Nations Security Council in January 2001 and May 2002.

Καὶ συμβαίνει ἡ ἀνατροπή... μεταξὺ 1880 καὶ 1900. οἱ χρονολογίες εἶναι τόσο ἀκριβεῖς, ὥστε δὲν ἐπιτρέπουν οὐδὲ τὴν παραμικρὴ ἀμφισβήτηση. Τί συμβαίνει ἀκριβῶς αὐτὴ τὴν ἐποχὴ πού φέρνει τὴν ἀπότομη μεταβολή;
